American Robins (Turdus migratorius),
one of the most well-known and widespread songbirds in
North America
, belong to the family of thrushes call Turdidae. In late winter, the
familiar song, “cheerily, cheer up, cheerily, cheer up!” is often heard in
backyards as males compete to attract potential mates. Insects and fruits are
the main source of food for robins. They forage for earthworms and insects on
the ground by cocking their heads, eyeing their prey, and then pouncing with
their bill to grab their meal. Robins eat an abundance of fruits in the winter
searching in large groups for an adequate supply of berries. They can live up to
14 years according to banding records
