Black-and-white Warbler

Black-and-white Warblers breed in our area on Cape Cod, nesting in wooded areas. Their song is a high-pitched sound that reminds some people of a squeaky wheel. They probe branches and tree trunks looking for insects hidden in the bark. The males have bold black and white stripes and a black throat. The females of this species have duller streaks and a white throat. In late summer they begin their fall migration to the southern parts of the U.S, Central America, and northern South America.
