Brown Creeper

brown creeper

The cryptic coloring of the tiny Brown Creeper makes it a difficult bird to find as it winds its way up a tree in search of food. It will quickly descend from one tree to another always beginning at the base. It probes the crevices of the bark with its long, decurved bill for insects, larvae, or egg cases. Like the woodpeckers, it uses its tail as a brace. A high-pitched seeet can sometimes attract a birder to its location. Brown creepers build their stick and grass nests behind loose shingles of bark. The oldest recorded life span is four years.
