Black-throated Blue Warbler

The beautiful blue, black, and white coloration of the male Black-throated Blue Warbler is in marked contrast from the drab green color of the female. Males sing an ascending buzzy "beer, beer, beer, beee-eeee" during courtship. They prefer to breed in large parcels of mixed deciduous and conifer forests in southern Canada and the northeastern portion of the United States. Bulky nests are placed low in trees and are held together with spider webbing. The female typically lays 4 creamy white and speckled eggs that hatch in approximately 12 days.
