Hermit Thrush

November is the month we are most likely to capture Hermit Thrushes in our nets on Wing Island. They breed in the forests of Canada and northern United States. During fall migration, some travel as far south as Guatemala, although some may spend the winter on Cape Cod, providing snow cover is not abundant. Their flute-like, ethereal song can be heard throughout the forest during the spring, although their numbers are unfortunately declining. The Hermit Thrush is considered to be one of America's finest songsters.
