Orchard Oriole

Summers on Wing Island often bring flocks of young Orchard and Baltimore Orioles traveling together. Shown here is a young male Orchard Oriole who won't sport the chestnut and black feathers until their second year, although they may molt into some black chest feathers during their first fall molt. Their nests, made from grass, are woven into tree branches, but are not pendulous as the nest of the Baltimore Oriole. Orchard Orioles winter in southern Mexico and South America.
