Prairie Warbler

Wing Island has the perfect habitat for birds like this Prairie Warbler that prefer areas of sandy soil, dune vegetation and dry upland slopes. Males have been known to sing their buzzy, rising song well into midday. Prairie Warblers breed here on Cape Cod before heading back to their wintering grounds in the West Indies. The nest consists of weeds, plant down, leaves, and spider webs and usually holds four white, speckled eggs. Their nests are often parasitized by Brown-headed Cowbirds.
