Red-breasted Nuthatch

You may notice a small bird with a rosy breast going head first down a tree.Red-breasted Nuthatches have toes especially adapted to hold onto the bark as they search for insects, often finding food other birds have missed. They enjoy suet and sunflower seeds from backyard feeders and appear to be quite friendly if a person comes near them. Some people say their "yank-yank" call sounds like a child's toy horn.
